Cesar Cruz

Cesar Cruz served six years in the United States Army as an Information Technology Specialist after enlisting directly out of high school. Originally from Southern California, he explored online coursework and independent study while serving but ultimately realized that a traditional college experience would provide the environment he needed to grow academically and personally.

Before leaving the military, Cesar attended Warrior-Scholar Project’s Humanities program at Cornell University in 2025, an experience that helped prepare him for the transition into higher education. He is now a Human Development major at San Diego Mesa College, where he is exploring transfer opportunities and hopes to one day continue his studies at Cornell University.

Outside the classroom, Cesar is deeply committed to mentorship and community service. He volunteers as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County and enjoys studying American history, particularly the Antebellum, Civil War, and Reconstruction eras. He is also a dedicated supporter of San Diego sports teams and enjoys casual gaming. Through education, service, and community involvement, Cesar is focused on building a future rooted in personal growth and helping others succeed.
