Travis Weis

Travis Weis served four years in the United States Navy as a Military Police Officer. Before joining the military, he worked as a sous chef and travel photographer, experiences that helped cultivate his creativity, curiosity, and appreciation for different cultures and perspectives.

After attending Warrior-Scholar Project’s humanities boot camp at Princeton University in 2025, Travis continued his academic journey through the University of Maryland Global Campus and Minnesota State Community and Technical College. At M State, he worked as a Writing Tutor and English Department Faculty Assistant while developing his own creative work as a published poet. He is now transferring to Wesleyan University, where he will study in the College of Letters and continue exploring his interests in language, literature, and translation.

This summer, Travis is working with Warrior-Scholar Project while developing undergraduate research focused on translation methodology in video game localization. He hopes to pursue a PhD in Comparative Literature and contribute to expanding access to underrepresented literatures and languages through translation. Outside of academics, he enjoys volleyball, reading, writing, spending time with friends, and drinking perhaps a little too much coffee.
