Originally from the Philippines, Romeo Sarmiento attends the University of Virginia as a B.S. in Commerce (Class of 2025), concentrating on Finance. Romeo is the President of the Student Veterans of America chapter at UVA. Romeo intends to pursue a full-time role in investment banking or management consulting before attending a graduate school program.
Before UVA, Romeo served as an enlisted infantryman assaultman in the Marine Corps from 2013 to 2020. While in the military, he served as a section leader and platoon sergeant in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, with deployments to the Pacific, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
After his enlistment, Romeo attended a Warrior-Scholar Project academic boot camp in 2021 at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. Romeo also served as a humanities fellow the following summer with Warrior-Scholar Project.
