These workshops come in two different formats: One is designed for student veterans enrolled in community college (Community College Workshops, hosted by community colleges) and the other is designed for any veteran or service member who wants to brush up on useful academic skills regardless of enrollment status (Regional College Success Workshops, hosted by 4-year colleges and universities). College Success Workshops are offered in both full day in-person and half-day online formats.

Course structure

Analytical reading sessions introduce students to a variety of essential reading skills that will have a major impact on how students learn in the college setting. This session teaches strategies to efficiently understand, engage with, and extract important information from difficult and unfamiliar readings.

Study skills sessions help students prepare for college and improve academic performance. These sessions illustrate the learning practices of successful college students which includes classroom participation, note-taking, time management, and self-care.

College transition sessions are dedicated to exploring the expectations, challenges, and experiences student veterans face when transitioning into higher education from military service.

For virtual programs only, a panel of Warrior-Scholar Project alumni will engage in a discussion about their personal college experiences as well as answer questions from the students.
