The Sorenson Seminar Series is how we honor our friend Arne Sorenson and ensure his legacy lives on at WSP. Arne served on our board and taught a seminar at a WSP boot camp every summer until his passing.
On September 28, at 6 p.m. ET, the Executive Chairman of Johnson & Johnson Alex Gorsky, will join us as our third guest for this year’s Sorenson Seminar Series. Mr. Gorsky is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a veteran of the U.S. Army. While on active duty, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and received his Ranger tab and Airborne wings.
Mr. Gorsky has long served on the Business Roundtable, and has been a strong advocate of redefining the very purpose of a corporation, focusing on the need to promote “an economy that serves all Americans.” This reflects a pivotal, controversial shift from focusing solely on shareholders and instead taking into consideration all of a corporation’s stakeholders.
We will begin this Sorenson Seminar as a fireside chat, starting with a discussion on Mr. Gorsky’s thoughts on the stakeholder value model and how that ties into Johnson & Johnson’s credo. Students will then be encouraged to ask questions about this topic and any other related topic. This is a unique opportunity to ask questions of a business leader on a series of topics that impact every corporation in the country.
*This event is exclusively for WSP alums and special guests. Please visit our Alumni Slack workspace or read our latest Alumni Newsletter if you are interested in attending.
