Principal & Co-Founder, Sylmar Group
Peter Brooks is the Co-Founder and Principal of Sylmar Group which explores transformative technologies and businesses in the water and wastewater sector. Previously, Peter served as the Vice President of waterTALENT and as the Direct of Business Development for NLine Energy.
Peter has spent the last seven years focused on water resource management across the private, public, and non-profit sectors. He worked as a business development manager at Xylem, a global water technology company, as a Fulbright Scholar in India, and as the Executive Director of the Harvard Water Federalism Initiative.
Peter served as an infantry officer in the US Marine Corps, deploying twice to Al Anbar Province, Iraq where he led hundreds of missions in support of counterinsurgency and capacity-building operations. He commanded multiple infantry platoons and a rifle company of 200 Marines. Peter completed his active duty service as assistant operations officer of his 1200-person infantry battalion and the officer in charge of field-testing the new Marine Corps Infantry Automatic Rifle. He achieved the rank of Captain. Peter also co-founded a policy initiative at The Aspen Institute, worked in two defense think-tanks, and in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
Peter graduated from Harvard College with an AB in Government (High Honors) where he was a member of the heavyweight rowing team and the battalion commander of the MIT Navy ROTC. Peter received a joint MBA-MPP at Harvard Business School and Kennedy School of Government, where he was a Zuckerman Fellow, Tillman Military Scholar, George Leadership Fellow, Tim Day Marine Fellow, Truman National Security Fellow, and received a Derek C. Bok Award for undergraduate teaching excellence.
Peter lives in Los Angeles, CA with his wife Lily Stockman, an artist, writer, and entrepreneur.
