Top Military Influencer John Perez Joins Warrior-Scholar Project’s Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, D.C. — MARCH 8, 2023 — National nonprofit Warrior-Scholar Project (WSP) is pleased to announce the appointment of John Perez to its Board of Directors. A U.S. Army veteran and top military influencer, Perez brings invaluable expertise that will serve to enrich WSP’s mission of empowering veterans to excel at higher education via immersive academic boot camps in partnership with some of the nation’s top universities

“John is exactly who we need on our Board to help us embrace the next stage of WSP, and we are beyond fortunate to have him on our team. His keen understanding of military culture, corporate philanthropy, and organizational development will help us ensure that we grow sustainably and continue to find ways to deliver our high-impact programming to even more enlisted service members and veterans,” said Ryan Pavel, CEO of WSP.

Perez served in the Army on active duty for more than four years, including two deployments to Iraq. He then joined the Army Reserves and served as an ROTC instructor while enrolled in graduate school. He is currently the head of Military and Veterans Affairs at Johnson & Johnson where he continues to support veterans and their families through professional development and program advocacy.

“WSP is providing veterans with the opportunity to excel and advance themselves both professionally and individually, and I’m excited to be part of an organization that is making such a huge impact in the veteran community and within our country,” said Perez. “There are thousands of veterans service organizations, but WSP has carved itself a unique place within the higher education ecosystem and I’m looking forward to helping deepen its breadth of impact.”

Perez earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Seton Hall University, Master of Business Administration from Yale School of Management, and Executive Master in Policy Leadership from the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University.
